Ways to Give

ONLINE GIVING

Making an online gift to Georgetown Law is fast, easy, and secure!

All gifts designated to the Law Center stay at the Law Center. Thank you for your gift!

CALL US

202-662-9500 -- Please contact the Office of Development to make a credit card donation over the phone or learn more about giving opportunities at Georgetown Law. If you prefer to mail your contribution, please make your check out to Georgetown University Law Center and send to:

Office of Development
Georgetown University Law Center
600 New Jersey Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20001

As always, your gift may be designated for a particular purpose, such as the Law Annual Fund, by writing the designation on the Memo line of your check.

MATCHING GIFTS

Many law firms and companies offer matching gift programs that could potentially double or triple your gift to the Law Center. These programs usually involve a simple matching gift form, which should be mailed to:

Office of Development
Georgetown University Law Center
600 New Jersey Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20001

Both you and your spouse may be eligible for matching funds and we encourage you to contact your employer’s human resources department to inquire about their matching gift program. Our office is also available at 202-662-9500 to answer any questions you may have regarding matching gifts.

GIFTS OF STOCK

Georgetown Law also welcomes gifts of stock. For instructions on making a stock transfer to the Law Center, please contact:

Appreciated Securities

A stock portfolio can be among the most valuable assets you own. While astute investments can deliver sizable profits, they also result in considerable capital gains tax liabilities. With careful planning, a gift of publicly traded stock held long-term (more than one year) allows you to fully avoid capital gains taxes, claim a charitable income tax deduction for the full, fair market value of the gift and provide a substantial gift to the Law Center. Please contact the Office of Development to learn more about your options concerning gifts of appreciated stock.

LEGACY GIVING

Numerous alumni and friends make legacy gifts to Georgetown Law and, in doing so, become partners with the Law Center while planning for their own future. Their generosity honors loved ones, celebrates fond memories, or reflects a life’s work. The gift plans they use to create these legacies are tax-wise tools that yield significant immediate and long-term benefits.

Charitable gifts come in many shapes and sizes. Creative gift plans may include Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Gift Annuities, Pooled Income Funds, and Charitable Lead Trusts. You can fund your gift plan with a variety of assets, including retirement plan assets, cash, real estate, retained life estates, securities, and life insurance.  Bequests are also an excellent way to leave a legacy with the Law Center.

Establishing a gift for Georgetown Law can be a significant part of planning your estate and we encourage you to consult your attorney or financial advisor concerning your options. The Office of Development can provide more information on legacy giving and work with you and your advisors on creating a plan that best fits your financial situation and philanthropic goals.

For more information, please call us at 202-662-9500 or visit the Office of Planned Giving at Georgetown University.
