Message from the Dean
Welcome to Georgetown Law. When we ask students what attracts them to the school, the response always includes our reputation as an academic leader — and the fact that we’re in the heart of Washington, D.C. Intellectually and geographically, this is the place where law and ideas meet.
Take our distinguished faculty, for example; in addition to teaching and writing they also find time to argue before the Supreme Court and testify before Congress. Our students reap the benefits of their expertise.
Our top-ranked clinical program provides hands-on experience in more than a dozen areas of law. Our centers and institutes seek innovative solutions to challenges in such areas as global health, climate change and human rights. The Supreme Court Institute moots more than 90 percent of the cases heard by the Supreme Court. And initiatives like our Center for Transnational Legal Studies in London offer unique opportunities for study overseas.
With this kind of training, it’s no wonder that our graduates go on to careers in law firms, government, courts, businesses and universities in this country and around the world. And no matter where they are, Georgetown students and alumni demonstrate a commitment to others that is born of our Jesuit heritage.
At home, students enjoy our dynamic campus just blocks from the Capitol and Supreme Court. In addition to its classroom buildings, Georgetown Law has two libraries, a residence hall, sport and fitness center and child care center, making this a vibrant, collegial place, convenient for busy law students.
It is impossible to describe such a diverse community in a single page, so I invite you to browse our website, join our Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites – or better yet, visit us on campus. Here, you can talk to our faculty, staff and students and see firsthand what Georgetown is all about. We look forward to meeting you soon.
