Professor Rebecca Tushnet Professor Rebecca Tushnet

Georgetown University Law Center Professor Rebecca Tushnet's "43(B)log" has been named to the ABA Journal's sixth annual "Blawg 100."

On the blog, Tushnet covers issues surrounding false advertising, copyright, commercial speech and more.

The ABA Journal says of Tushnet's long-standing blog, "Her pieces offer a variety of shorter, sometimes humorous observations or summaries of issues she spots, mixed with longer, thoughtful analysis of recent opinions. We especially enjoy her posts˜often quick takes˜on fan fiction and other works."

Tushnet joined the Georgetown Law faculty in 2004. She is an expert in copyright, trademark, advertising law, and the law of engagement rings. She previously served on the faculty at New York University School of Law and as an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton, where she specialized in intellectual property. She also clerked for Chief Judge Edward R. Becker of the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice David Souter of the United States Supreme Court.

Tushnet's work currently focuses on the relationship between the First Amendment and false advertising law. She has advised and represented several fan fiction websites in disputes with copyright and trademark owners, and she is a member of the board of the Organization of Transformative Works, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting and promoting fanworks.

Tushnet received an A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. At Yale, she served as an articles editor for the Yale Law Journal and as an editor of the Yale Journal of Law and Feminism.
